Q Do new nurses need to have passed their NCLEX before starting?
Yes. All residents must have successfully passed the NCLEX before beginning the Nurse Residency Program.
Q Do you have to have your Alaska RN Licensure for the program?
Yes. A valid, active State of Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license is required prior to starting the program.
Q Can you have a temporary licensure and do the program?
No. Candidates must possess full, permanent licensure; temporary or provisional permits do not meet program qualifications.
Q Can you work in other areas of the hospital after the program is done?
Only if a position is posted for other departments and you are selected for it. Most residency pathways start on our Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) units.
Q Do you automatically have to work nights after completing the program?
No. Shift assignments depend on unit needs and vacancy postings. If a day position is available, residents are welcome to apply.
